ASSAM TEA | DARJEELING TEA | NILGIRI TEA
Indian Tea can be widely classified as Assam Tea, Darjeeling Tea & Nilgiri Tea on basis of the region in which it is produced.
NORTH INDIA
By Assam tea we refer
to the tea produced in Assam and its neighboring areas such as Tripura, Siliguri,
Cachar, Doars etc Assam makes both CTC and Orthodox, although CTC tea is more
in production.
Darjeeling, a famous hill-station & tourist attraction makes world famous Orthodox teas. Darjeeling tea is expensive and they are less in production.

SOUTH INDIA
South Indian is also known as Nilgiri tea which is produced in various
states of South India. The Nilgiri teas are very
low-priced. The main area are located around:
a) Conoor: Conoor produces good quality Orthodox & dust tea. Some Orthodox
produced in high regions have a distinct flavor.
b) Cochin: Cochin produces very inexpensive CTC teas.
